On February 20th, 2026, Juliette Marcella opened a production of CABARET in Columbus, Ohio, as part of CCT's Professional Spotlight Series. They had the opportunity to explore the incredible role of The Emcee. Set in the early 1930s, Cabaret draws you into a vibrant, provocative world where the shadows of political unrest are ever-present—but so is the magnetic pull of freedom, fun, and self-expression. With unforgettable music, dazzling performances, and an infectious energy, the show invites you to lose yourself in a world of bold choices and passionate living.

This interactive production reminds us that while we can’t ignore the challenges ahead, it’s also essential to embrace joy, fight for what we believe in, and savor the beauty in every moment. Perfect for teens and adults, Cabaret is a thrilling, thought-provoking experience you won’t want to miss.

"Marcella is glorious in their portrayal of the dark, gender-bending Emcee. They are part jester/part commentator. Marcella does more with an arched eyebrow than most could do with a four-page aside."

-Paul Batterson

To have the opportunity to explore such an iconic role is an absolute blessing. My time with CCT and in this role in particular is not something I would change for the world. Being able to explore such an otherworldly being onstage especially paving my own path with it, has been a rewarding challenge. From having to play with the vocals of the music, to getting to explore what it means to be a queer woman in Nazi Germany.

"Marcella knocks the opening “Wilkommen,” and the acid-drenched nihilism of “Money” and “Two Ladies,” out of the park, along with some excellent wordless work as the character (a metaphor for the rot happening in the world) looms around the fringes of other scenes."

-Richard Sanford
